Alan grew up in Dorset and Hampshire before going to Aberystwyth to study English Literature. He moved to Oxford, where he broadened his education working in the theatre and the wine trade. Latterly, he has worked in finance and education.
Alan has a deep love of the countryside and is a keen walker and photographer. Two years ago, he completed a walk the length of England, which he documented in a series of photo journals, From Bournemouth to Berwick. He lives now in Wiltshire, where he can easily access beautiful countryside both in the Cotswolds and on the Wiltshire Downs.
Alan writes poetry and short stories. Quiet World is his first full-length novel, the idea for which grew out of the eerie peacefulness of the first Covid lockdown, where nature carried on as normal while our lives were so altered.
A sequel will be coming soon and he plans to publish other stories in due course.
